Park Info: Rising majestically from the shores of the Minas Basin, Blomidon Provincial Park is renowned for its spectacular views. Blomidon's 759 ha (1,875 acres) include 180 m (600 ft.) high cliffs, a variety of habitats, striking natural features, abundant wildlife -- and the world's highest tides wash its shores. These natural attractions provide excellent opportunities for camping, hiking, beachcombing, photography or just appreciating nature.

Facilities and Services
Blomidon Provincial Park is open from May 18 to Sept. 3 for the 2012 Season and offers a 70-site campground with both woodland and open sites, two picnic areas, an unsupervised beach near the park entrance, and hiking trails. A group campsite, with kitchen shelter and fire grills, is available by reservation only.

Fairy Shrimps, Spring Flowers and Birds
Join Naturalist Jim Wolford for an interpretive walk on the Jodrey Trail to a seasonal pond that contains the rare and beautiful fairy shrimp. Other pond life, spring flowers, and birds will also be seen or heard. This very easy nature walk is suitable for adults and children who are capable of the distance (approximately 2 km). Wear comfortable walking shoes or boots and bring water. Binoculars, cameras, magnifying glasses, and field guides are also recommended, if you have them. Muddy Blomidon Biodiversity
Biodiversity is the word used to describe the wonderful abundance of life on Earth. This biodiversity does a tremendous amount of work that is essential to humans (like pollinating our food) and the health of the planet. The tidal mudflats of Blomidon Park are full of biodiversity: fascinating plants, animals and other organisms all doing very interesting and weird things. Blomidon Trail Hike
Join the Chebucto Hiking Club for a moderate 13 km hike suitable for all ages. This hike is rated 4C - a good deal of significant hill climbing and a significant part of the walk takes place on somewhat difficult terrain (rocky, rooted paths). Blomidon Park Hikes
Join the Valley Trekkers Volkssport Club for a guided walk through Blomidon Provincial Park. There will be an option of a 10 or 13 kilometer walk along groomed trails. Suitable for adults only. Dress for weather conditions and footwear for wet and muddy conditions. Bring water, and snacks for lunch. Meet in the lower parking lot at Blomidon Provincial Park. Hiking/Walking Trails
A 14 km (8.5 mi.) system of interconnected trails provides access to a variety of habitats and numerous scenic look-offs within the park.
Jodrey Trail - The 6 km (3.7 mi.) long trail skirts 183 m (600-ft.) sea cliffs with numerous viewing stations overlooking the Minas Basin. This trail winds through a sugar maple, yellow birch and beech forest and near the park's only bog. At Indian Springs Brook, a cairn commemorates the gift of 162 ha (400 acres) to the park by the late Roy Jodrey.
Look-off Trail - The 1.6 km (1 mi.) long trail offers views of the Minas Basin and Five Islands Provincial Park, 24 km (15 mi.) across the bay.
The Woodland Trail winds 3.2 km (1.9 mi.) through forest habitats of sugar maple, yellow birch, beech, and white spruce and balsam fir.
The Borden Brook Trail - 3.5 km (2.2 mi.), the trail skirts a series of waterfalls while passing through a predominantly white spruce forest.
A short interpretive trail also provides information on the hardwood and softwood forests of Nova Scotia.
